Strawberry Cream Puffs (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Pastry

01 - 400g puff pastry, thawed but cold
02 - 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

→ Filling

03 - 100g fresh strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced
04 - 100ml whipping cream (heavy cream), chilled
05 - 8 teaspoons strawberry jam
06 - 1 tablespoon white cocoa syrup (or substitute)

→ Garnish

07 - 2 tablespoons icing sugar (powdered sugar) for dusting
08 - Melted chocolate for drizzling (milk, dark, or white)
09 - Icing sugar (powdered sugar) to taste, for cream

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) or as specified on the puff pastry package. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter, or rectangles using a sharp knife. Place the shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between each piece.
02 - For a golden-brown finish, whisk an egg with a tablespoon of water and lightly brush the tops of the pastry shapes with this egg wash.
03 - Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet or a wire rack.
04 - In a chilled mixing bowl, beat the cold whipping cream with an electric mixer until it starts to thicken. Gradually add icing sugar to taste, then incorporate the white cocoa syrup. Continue whipping until stiff peaks form, being careful not to overwhip.
05 - For heart shapes, carefully slice each pastry horizontally to create top and bottom halves. Spread a teaspoon of strawberry jam on the bottom half, then pipe or spoon whipped cream over the jam. Arrange fresh strawberry slices on top of the cream. Gently place the top pastry half over the strawberries to create a sandwich. For rectangles, simply layer jam, cream, and strawberries on top without slicing.
06 - Dust the assembled cream puffs with powdered sugar using a fine-mesh sieve. Melt your chosen chocolate and drizzle it over the tops. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
