01 -
Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
02 -
In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, flour, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add Dijon mustard if desired. Mix everything together until the dough forms a smooth, cohesive ball.
03 -
Use your hands or a small cookie scoop to form the dough into 2.5 cm (1-inch) balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2.5 cm (1 inch) apart.
04 -
Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to make an indentation in the center of each dough ball, creating a small well.
05 -
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
06 -
Once out of the oven, let cool for 5 minutes. Then spoon approximately 1/2 teaspoon of hot pepper jelly into the indentation of each appetizer.
07 -
Allow the jelly to set for a few minutes, then serve warm or at room temperature.
