Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Mix flour, butter, and salt. Add yeast mixture. Knead 8-10 minutes until smooth.

Place in greased bowl, cover. Let rise 1 hour until doubled.

Divide into 12-14 pieces. Roll each into 6-7 inch ropes. Let rise 20-30 minutes.

Bake at 400°F for 12-15 minutes. Brush with garlic butter mixture while hot.
