Homemade Pepperoni Pizza Rolls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dough Ingredients

01 - 1 cup warm water (110°F)
02 - 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
03 - 2 tablespoons sugar
04 - 3 cups all-purpose flour
05 - 1 teaspoon salt
06 - 2 tablespoons olive oil

→ Filling & Toppings

07 - 1 cup pizza sauce, plus extra for dipping
08 - 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
09 - 1 cup sliced pepperoni
10 - Additional pizza toppings of your choice (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Start by pouring warm water (110°F) into a large bowl. Dissolve the sugar in the water, then sprinkle yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy and aromatic - this means your yeast is alive and ready to work!
02 - Add flour, salt, and olive oil to your yeast mixture. Knead everything together until you have a smooth, elastic dough - this usually takes about 7-10 minutes of working the dough. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for about an hour, or until it's doubled in size.
03 - Once your dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it into a large rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread a layer of pizza sauce across the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle generously with shredded mozzarella, then arrange pepperoni slices (and any other toppings you like) evenly over the cheese.
04 - Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log, similar to making cinnamon rolls. Use a serrated knife or unflavored dental floss to cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls cut-side up in a greased baking dish.
05 - Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes while you preheat your oven to 375°F. Bake for 25 minutes or until the rolls are puffy and golden brown on top.
06 - Let the pizza rolls cool for a few minutes before serving. Warm up some extra pizza sauce and serve it alongside for dipping. Enjoy while they're still warm and the cheese is gooey!

# Notes:

01 - These rolls can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before the second rise - just bring to room temperature before baking
02 - Try different fillings like mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, or Italian sausage for variety
