Pulled Beef Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Meat

01 - 3-4 lbs beef chuck roast

→ Aromatics

02 - 1 large onion, sliced
03 - 3 cloves garlic, minced

→ Sauce & Marinade

04 - 1 cup beef broth
05 - 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
06 - 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
07 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar

→ Seasonings

08 - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
09 - 1 teaspoon ground cumin
10 - 1 teaspoon salt
11 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

→ Assembly

12 - 6-8 sandwich buns
13 - Pickles, coleslaw, sliced onions (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Season the beef chuck roast thoroughly with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and cumin on all sides.
02 - Place the sliced onion and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker or Dutch oven.
03 - Position the seasoned beef on top of the bed of onions.
04 - Pour beef broth, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar over the meat.
05 - Cover and cook on low heat for 8-10 hours (or in a Dutch oven at 150°C for 4-5 hours), until the beef is fork-tender.
06 - Transfer the cooked beef to a cutting board and shred into bite-sized pieces using two forks.
07 - Return the shredded beef to the cooking vessel and mix thoroughly with the cooking juices.
08 - Optional: Lightly toast the sandwich buns on a baking sheet or grill until golden.
09 - Spoon a generous portion of pulled beef onto each bottom bun, add desired toppings, and cover with the top bun.

# Notes:

01 - For more intense flavor, refrigerate the cooked beef overnight and reheat before serving.
02 - Reserve excess cooking liquid to serve on the side as a dipping sauce.
